Our PM makes a Lasting Impression

President Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Graves wave from the entrance of Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada on Feb. 19, 2009.

That's the actual caption from the White House website.

  1. Nice. Wasn't "Graves" a fictitious PM in some movie (or fake President)?

Ha! Likely a White House staffer forgot to replace the inside nickname with the real name.

  5. I'm sure it was a staffer error Catherine. You think they call Harper, Graves?

That too would be funny to learn.

  9. Could be a Freudian slip... Someone assuming Harper is going to his "political grave"... lol...

Proably an honest error, knb, just that the names Harper and Graves bear little similarity.

In the online game NationState, it's amusing that someone had created a Canadian PM Graves in 2005:

It was a cold, snowy evening in Ottawa- Prime Minister Graves had been at Parliament all day, debating the finer points of the federal budget with the opposition. As he drove home, he muttered things to himself like, "Damn Liberals..they insist that we need to spend more on social programs, even though I allowed for a 20% increase this year- what do they want us to do? Fuckin' disarm ourselves?"

  11. Whatever staffer it was who fucked up could have Wikied Harper's name in ten seconds, but, really, who in the States actively gives a fuck what that fat dipshit in the cheap suit's name is?

  13. Maybe Obama couldn't wait to get away from Harper and said to the driver "Home Graves".

Well, at least he didn't need to have his party buy advertising in New York and Las Vegas showing pictures of himself with the Barack Obama...

(I can just hear tens of thousands of Americans asking themselves "who IS that guy on the billboard with the President, anyway"..;)
