The Brotherhood of 'Sweaters'

Maybe this is really the new norm for Conservatives? When you're in a tight spot, sweating a little maybe, you don your "I'm just a nice guy" sweater and go on camera?

Duffy has learned well don't you think? Not that the curve was that steep really.

By Harper saying:

"I thought his language was perhaps inappropriate, and I gather he withdrew some of the language ...

I think it's pretty clear that Duffy got his marching orders and obeyed like a good little soldier.

Gee, wasn't Duffy recently quoted as saying that his appointment had nothing to do with partisanship? Forgive the imagery but, I'd say that fantasy has been laid bare this week.

Nobody but political junkies cared what Mike Duffy said as a TV personality and even less will care about what he says as a Senator.

Those statements were his last hurrah. He will now fade into obscurity never to be seen or heard from again.

and to think of all the reputable jurists, published scientists, military hero's, business czars that could have been placed in a senate that Duffy himself described as incredibly busy, useful, functional etc.

Mr. Ignatieff put on his red sweater for the move in on Rick Mercer show.

Wow Oemissions, really?

Sigh

Give me a break please! So Mr.williams was insulted! A big YAWN! You get what you sew! How many insults has Mr.Williams Premier of NFLD thrown across the aisle hey? Oh yea didn't he insult all of Canada by using our flag as a political tool, because he was so upset with Mr.Paul Martin? In other words no-one cares expect for people on the liblogs. "YAWN"

I almost forgot, how many times have you KNB and others on liblogs have insulted politicians before hey? Don't you think it's hypocritical of you and others on liblogs KNB complaining about a politician insulting another politician? When it happens on a regular basis on the liblogs. But I digress.

Hey Right. Did I say his language was inappropriate?

Nope...that was your hero buddy. Mr. Harper (can do no wrong), himself!

I'm simply pointing out what a Conservative 'hack' Duffy has always been.

First KNB Mr.Harper isn't my buddy,I don't even know him.
Secondly KNB if a liberal would have said the same thing, but to
a conservatives do you think that it would have been reported
on your site or on other liblogs? Of course not! Oh yea didn't an mp
from the opposition insulted Mr. Flaherty this past week by calling him a leprecon? Was he a Conservative "hack"? Have you complained about it? Have you seen Mr. Flaherty going in front of a camera and complaining about it?

I hope this is nothing like "The Sisterhood of Travelling Pants"

Right Where it's At - here we go again with the right wing trolls -mommy, mommy Johnnie hit me first. Grow up.

Calling someone a lepricon is a tad different the sexual innuendos. Besides, Duffy's senator and should be getting to work instead of making political statements. ALL taxpayers of all political stripes are paying his salary and perks - you know the ones he used to condemn.

Oh, I mean to add - Ignatieff was doing "outdoor" shots and it was bloody cold - it's winter you know.

The best part, Duffy is proving that he was a craven hack all along, he's tarnishing his reputation. Also, I loved the CRANKY responses to the media, when they pressed him. Classic.

Imagine that a politician making a political statement.Do you mean the
same statements the liberals made by supporting the budget, and then criticize what they supported? A little odd isn't? I could on,but I digress.

Sandi you wouldn't get the point if you sat on it! There is one person here who needs to grow up,and it isn't me.

lol James.

Right..you are off on a tangent that has nothing to do with this post.

Sandi, I'm not following your outdoor shots re' Ignatieff.

Someone called Flaherty a leprechaun? ha!

Steve, the best line concerning Duffy's appointment that I've read so far:

In the case of Mike Duffy, it put a merciful end to the longest audition in Canadian history.

That is courtesy of Rex Murphy.

Somehow KNB for some strange reason I knew that you were going to say something like this. Even if I was trying to make a point. But that's o.k.

You were talking about sweaters and Oemissions....said Ignatieff wore a sweater in the Mercer skit - there were outside, unloading the truck, in the cold weather. It wasn't a "gosh I'm a warm and fuzzy Harper photo-op".

Sorry Right Where it's at....I got the wrong guy.

Not wrong about the name calling thing though. Duffy was way out of line - even your buddy Harper said he was.

All politicians put on sweaters when it suits them (or in the case of Jack Laytoon, a plaid work shirt). Paul Martin did it, and I doubt that there were any complaints from you, were there?

Karen said...

Oh good grief.

For those who didn't quite get it...this post was not about sweaters!

True. It was about your seemingly irrational hatred of Mike Duffy, wasn't it? I'd love for you to explain exactly what makes him a "conservative hack" or "rightwing extremist" (gee, most of the country just thought he was unbiased...even though he would let Sheila Copps, Martha Hall Finley and several other regular Liberal and NDP guests *shout over* their Conservative rival and do nothing about it). But I'd settle for the truth here: go ahead and tell me that Jane Taber, Craig Oliver, Robert Fife, Rosemary Thompson and the rest of the regular journalists on that show are *not Liberals*.

I think you are way over-reacting, and you actually sound like you believe that only Liberal viewpoints should be aired. Is that really what you think?

Oemissions said...

It is so about sweaters and Iggy was inside with it on. It was just like the blue sweater, only it was red. Very clever, Mr. Ignstieff! Or maybe the CBC wardrobe/makeup director suggested it.Or his PR person?

It sounds to me that we have a few childish people argueing on this thread. Why argue who said what and come up with there own muddled reason for why. As for calling Laferthy a leprechaun, that's way too mild. I could think of a lot of other words much harsher than being called a leperchaun but I won't play that silly game. As for Duffy, he's a joke trur and true. Certainly not senator material that's for sure. He deserves all the jokes he gets. He basically asked for anything he gets
