Does the Conservative party and/or Harper really think that just by saying something it becomes true? Well, I guess we know the answer to that because they do it daily don't they?
This one is low though, in my opinion. To suggest that Brian Mulroney is no longer a member of the party, coincidentally, just as the inquiry into his dealings with Karlheinz Schreiber gets under way, seems beyond petty.
Do the Conservatives really believe that anyone will regard Mr. Mulroney as anything but a Conservative? I'm certainly no Mulroney fan, but this uncalled for humiliation that the Conservatives seem bent on pursuing, is really low.
Maybe GritGirl has them worried?

You know, whether you like Mulroney or not, he dedicated his whole life being a Conservative while Harper in his youth jumped from Liberal to Conservative to Reform to Alliance to the current Cons.
Mulroney did get two majorities. I think a former PM should get a life time membership for "nothing" in honour of their service.
Harper is a sleaze.
Considering, wasn't Mulroney organizing Quebec for Harper in the last election? Just goes to show...
... the only good tory's a "Supposo-tory"...
... or a "Lava-tory"...
How good is their word? About as good as the napkin it's written on...
Agreed. I disagree with most of what Mulroney did and stood for, but this is just plain nasty and weird really.
There was much mocking when Ignatieff called Mulroney on his birthday. (Mostly from disgruntled Liberals who would judge Ignatieff for the colour of his if they could.) I said at the time that there was a time and place to rise above the nonsense. You can still be political adversaries and gentlemen at the same time.
I think the whole concept escapes the Conservatives, or a good number of them at least.
Unnamed party sources yet again, must have been a slow day at the Communist Press.
No. Just the typical cowardly modus operandi often employed by the Conservatives. In fact, it was such a busy news day it would appear that the Conservatives just didn't know what fire to put out first.
It seems they went for the one they started in their own hair.
(For the record, the Liberal party has a few cowardly 'off the record' characters too)
Wrong KNB, it's the modus operandi most often employed by cowardly CP reporters who support the left blindly.
Baloney. You're wasting your time here trying to convince anyone that the media has a bias toward the left.
It's an old canard that waddled away a long time ago.
Yeah... I love that "left bias" when studies last year have shown (referring to the McGill study) that Harper received the greatest amount of positive press in the past 3 years - even in the CBC. He still gets a good hearing out. The Liberals were behind the NDP and Conservatives in coverage.
Statements like Anons, reflect partisan rhetoric and nothing else. Common sense and, oh, I don't know, maybe OPEN EYES clearly show the skewing to the right of the media. It is, of course, led by American corporate media giants (who have interests in defense contractors, which benefit from right-wing government policy), then slithers up here, to our own corporate media, who are tied in to the US media via program sharing agreements, joint news correspondent coverage, etc. (how many CTV stories do you see that actually are reported by an ABC or NBC reporter?)...
The corporate media in Canada (most of the media) have a $$$ dollars and cents interest in what they and their big corporate advertisers want (big oil, auto sector, construction), and it is typically a right-wing agenda...
LOL - if it was communist press - there would be no free press. It would be controlled.
Dumbies everywhere. I laugh because Harper set the tone about Liberal bias (a strategy) and some idiots believe him.
Let see - Liberal media - The Star, all the rest conservative. Globe and Mail centrist.
Hey, dummy - do the math.

Which is where it's heading - with Harper trying to "do in" the CBC & considering giving financial assistance to CTV/GlobalMedia.
Harper & goons are trying to distance themselves even further from Mulroney with the hearings ongoing now. Thus this stupid "Mulroney is no longer a Con Party member". It's hitting below the belt, something they do ALL the time. The optics are bad for them & in their minds the less the better of any negativity. A bunch of turds.
Another thing. Being associated with Mulroney right now is a great reminder of the mess Mulroney left us in financially. Something else Harper would prefer not to be in our minds during this economic recession which he made worse than it might have been.
Again dumb - Harper's bunch should have kept quiet about Mulroney's membership. It wouldn't be such a newsy item right now.
But, Harper just can't help himself - the vindictive little sleaze. Oh, and user. He used Mulroney to get in and now dumping him. He used Charest to try to win over Quebec then dumped Charest for Dumont, that failed and now he schmoozing Charest again.
Why would anyone trust Harper as a friend? Dumb.
At least Mulroney and Harper were both elected by their parties unlike the the condescending Professor Puffin, of whom the Bob Rae gang have been their knives in preparation for disembowelment.
of whom the Bob Rae gang have been "sharpening" their knives in preparation for disembowelment.
Ohhh, how insightful!
I wonder how these people vote? Are there fake voting ID's out there? Clearly they can't be of voting age.
This is your annointed leader speaking;
“It’s a noble bird because it has good family values. They stay together for 30 years. They lay one egg (each year). They put their excrement in one place. They hide their excrement.… They flap their wings very hard and they work like hell. This seems to me a symbol for what our party should be.”
HAHAHAHAHAHA
