I just don't get it!

Read this:

http://www.washtimes.com/national/20060724-110410-8309r.htm

How is it possible, that in the Western world, with an educated populace, they continue to buy the pap of the neo-cons? What is happening to thinking people? Have the results of Iraq, (100 innocent people a day being killed), escaped their pervue?

I honestly, honestly don't get it. Dogma has superceeded reason. How did this happen and how do we stem it?

It's really not all that complicated ; -
bullshit baffles brains.
That's all they got but they know how to sell it.

decoin...I'm not sure what your point is.

What I meant by that is that America has every resource at it's fingertips. Why?, don't they use it?

It's a mystery to me.

foottothefire....the fact that they can sell it, scares the hell out of me.

ex-ndip???

The point of the post is that 50% of the population believes something that isn't true.
Why? Because those with large voices and an agenda to protect, perpetuate lies that support it.
I find that sad, but more importantly, dangerous.

Please, do feel free to share what you did regarding Rwanda, etc. You sound very concerned about what has/is going on in Africa etc. What makes the life of an Iraqi worth any less?

The fraility of the human mind is the problem. Education does help, but unfortunately it can not undo the damage that was done in youth. Ex-ndip complains about the left dominated school and university system (only proving of course that liberal minded people are more intelligent) but we must not forget that it is parents and pastors that have had the most profound impact on people's thought processes. Throw in religion and you have a recipe destined to put 5 out of 10 people into fantasyland. It's much easier to believe that God will fix everything than it is for us to fix ourselves. Not trying to offend anyone, just stating the truth as I see it.

fightthebrainwashers...you didn't offend me at all!

Whether you believe that God gave us this world, or otherwise, the fact remains, it's up to us to maintain it.

I understand that there are those who think God, will make it right. I'm obviously not religious, but the belief that we are piece's on a chess board, is so extremely sad. A God is orchestrating this...to what end? How is this a loving God?

Don't get it...don't want to.

knb - in this era of 'news talk radio' (which the right wing has mastered), we find ourselves in a world where 'uninformed opinion' is just as valid as 'informed opinion'. This is a big part of the problem. The politcal right has labeled middle of the roaders and lefties as being 'ideological' but I tell you, NO ONE is more driven by ideology these days than republicans and conservatives!

(Cool blogsite!)

Thanks leftdog! I couldn't agree with you more.

Hey KNB. You're right about Landay. He's a cut above the Blatchford gruel we get. You might want to check out this interview with him at www.echochamberproject.com/landay
The Knight Ridder crew have consistently been just about the only reliable news outfit in the states since Bush moved to Washington.
