Track the Fear Mongering

Paul Wells has an interesting idea here.

In an effort to track paid ad buys geographically he's asked all of us to let him know when you here or see the juvenile ad campaign being launched by the Con's.

It's an interesting idea and I would encourage those of you who are interested in this issue, (how the parties intend to target the electorate), to take him up on his offer.

Apparently the ads at the gas stations will only appear in Southern Ontario, but the radio and TV spots appear to be national buys.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. The more I hear the gas pump bit, the more I'm reminded of stereotype of the guy on a NYC street corner who says, Pssst, wanna buy a watch?

One way of hitting back is to buy a minimum of gas from a participating gas station and to declare while paying that this is the very last time they will see you as a customer, and why.

Agreed ij.

Anon say "sucky babies"? Now, wasn't that just a brilliant remark.

Anon doesn't realize that he/she is a "sucker baby" - paying for ads to the very people that are ripping them off? Sucker big time.

I can't get out today and I am truly considering (as I live in small town Ontario) phoning every gas station in my town and asking if they are running the ads - if so, I will tell them that when my husband gets home - he'll know not to go there for gas.

Yet another Con clearly demonstrating their level of intelligence.

sandi, if you do find out, I hope you let Paul know.

These ads will be as effective as the 'Dion is not a leader' ads,
big troubles for the LPC.
Dion and the LPC have no one to blame but themselves.
Did they really think that the Cons would be curtious and wait for Dion to fully explain his carbon tax before attacking it?
After the non-stop scandal fabrication PMSH has endured for months, he should give Dion a break?

Boycotting any gas stations that run the ads will give the ads extended coverage.
As many or more customers will gas up at the boycotted stations, out of curiousity.
Any media coverage on the boycotts with repeat the ad message of Dion's Tax Trick.

It's brilliant, Cons only need to place a handfull of ads, and the Libs and media will keep repeating the message for them.

That's why this could backfire on the CPC bigtime. If, and I hope this happens, Dion and the Liberals unveil a smart, coherent, and comprehensive plan Harper and his band of neo-cons will have to eat a big plate of crow.

wilson, you really live in a happy place don't you?

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to resemble reality.

In fact, the wheels of the Oil Spot bus seem to be coming off a href="http://blog.macleans.ca/2008/06/09/alas-poor-oily-we-knew-him/">bit.

The only fabrication going on there my friend is the cloth the Con's throw over everything in an effort to hide the truth.

Anon, the Lib's started fighting back in QP today.

This nonsense will be exposed for what it is. Lies. Furthermore, the Con's have nothing to propose.

As I read elsewhere today, it's interesting to see Ottawa's youth on the city streets fighting against the environment.
