Quelle Surprise!

Don't tell me that Harper's stalling and lack lustre record is actually going to get some press! Really?

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown suggested in an interview that Stephen Harper's government has fallen out of step with the thinking of other major nations on climate and development issues.

No! Ya think?

This story is not new to most of us of course, but it truly is astonishing that it's taken so long, Harper's entire term in fact, to get other politicians to articulate what is fact.

I know that Brown isn't on any one's Valentine's list, but I do hope that his blunt comments will be echoed by others. That way, maybe the press in this country will be forced to focus on the truth.

Mr. Brown expressed frustration with countries, including Canada, that have backed away from Africa.

“We cannot withdraw from Africa,” he said. If the G8 is to achieve the millennium development goals it set in previous summits. “we've got to continue the efforts we've started in Africa.” He added: “I am determined that a recession is not an excuse to give up on the poor. A recession is when your duty to the poor is even more clear.

“People feel that there's a danger that the development agenda stalls,” he said, noting that 110 million more people around the world, most of them in Africa, are facing hunger, and citing a long list of alarming statistics on mortality for infants and mothers in childbirth.

In pre-summit statements, Ottawa has been silent on African aid and on climate change, in sharp contrast to the United States, Germany, France and Britain, which have actively sought a consensus on these issues.

Can't wait to see the response by Harper and co. Did I say response? I meant spin.

Incidentally, I think this shot of Harper is one of the most poignant, most descriptive, most accurate picture of the man and his ideology, that I have ever seen. Note the reflection of the flag.

Quelle suprise.

Is that the same Gordon Brown who's become a politicla pariah within his own party and his own country? I'm not sure he's in much of a position to throw ston

In typical fashion jarrid, you seem to have missed that I noted that fact.

That said, you ignore that other countries seem to share his view.

Gawd...aren't you guys getting tired of defending what isn't? Seriously, you sound like absolute loons.

Uh, huh - a daily belching of nonsense from the cowardly Anon that is obviously intellectually challenged - don't worry KNB (this Anon does this pointless babble all over the blogosphere) - every neighbourhood has one as they say.

Here are couple articles on our climate. On the National Post,on CBCand accuweather.com. I'm just wondering how many of your readers are going to actually read these articles and how many are going to just ignore them. Now here is a tough one for some of you. How many are going to say deniers or just an all out insult name calling etc. etc...

Just sayin...

So we have "Proud Canadian" showing off his vast ignorance that is echoed by the brain-dead and Conservatives for some reason.

The Weather does not equate climate change. I know it's a hard concept to understand for those that have IQs of a lemming...

Mitch Taylor (the Polar Bear expert) - well it states that he has beliefs (not facts) - and since when does being a biologist make you an expert on climate? IT does not. Way to go Assmonkey...
In his email to Taylor, Derocher said he has no problem with dissenting views on the polar bears' survival "as long as they are supportable by logic, scientific reasoning and the literature."
I guess "Proud Canadian" is adverse to logic and reality.

And finally old loon Lorne Gunter... Always ready to promote garbage... This time it's Roy Spencer...
A right wing loon, an ID supporter amongst other stupidities he supports. Spencer has been debunked too many times....

So yes Proud Canadian, I have read the articles and it just underscores what a deluded idiot you are.

You KNB, I wonder about "groupthink", why is it that most Libloggers are making much about the host and harper?
First Kinsella post it now all the lemmings seem to be following...

Are you next? Curious.

Not to mention that Alan Carlin, (also mentioned in one of the articles)who does have a degree in physics, but is an economist by profession.

All of this is old recycled news brought on no doubt by the activity south of the border.

c_wtf, I first saw BC'er on the story and Kinsella much later.

That said, I mentioned this incident in a blog post on July 03rd...I guess they are all just catching up to me, ;).

(I didn't note at the time that he didn't consume the host. Just saw him take it and thought it was bizarre.)

That said, I think it's just another example of Harper's hubris. That his comm's guy is now lying about it is ridiculous...but no, I'm not going to blog about it.

For the record though, it's not just Lib bloggers. The MSM is all over this too.

Kinsella did not post it first. Someone else did & many other too before him. Look it up in Wiki & it will give you what the "host" really means to Catholics. It's serious - to them.

His comm guy lying is pathetic. Granted. It will make the story bigger that it has to be...

Catholics are really, I mean really stupid to get upset over this. So now what? Harper is going to hell? Ain't he already?

Given the uproar from some over this, I hope that all these good Catholics (and Liberals) that demand "respect" will show the same to Muslims and Jews with some equally bizarre rituals.
Don't talk to us about equality of the sexes when Synagogues have segregation of the males/females or seemingly "tort" rights over women in certain other religions. Right? Or is that somehow different?

I'm so glad that Catholics are forgiving...

I find it simply astounding that this slave of his own unhappiness, the most PREDICTABLY boring, kneejerk contrarian has the audacity, or sheer lack of self awareness to query someone else on this question. The "lemming" crack is amusing coming from such a self delusional lightweight. Seriously, it's just robotic displacement, nothing more, nothing to ponder. Gawd.

BTW, I haven't even read Kinsella today ;)

"Catholics are really, I mean really stupid to get upset over this."

cwtf,
What may mean nothing to you, & many others, means something to Catholics - something sacred. It's what THEY believe, not what you believe. If you can't open your mind to that understanding then you appear to have very narrow-minded views. And, no, I'm not Catholic.

"Given the uproar from some over this, I hope that all these good Catholics (and Liberals) that demand "respect" will show the same to Muslims and Jews with some equally bizarre rituals."

Why just Catholics & Liberals? Are they the only ones this pertains to? I should think it encompasses everyone including Jews & Muslims - in other words respect should be shown on all sides, all segments of society & different faiths throughout the world. But it won't happen as you well know. That's, again, idealistic thinking, not reality. You speak of "showing respect" so where is yours when you say what you did above: that Catholics are "really stupid"?

CWTF,
Here's a good post with a few links you can click on to get a better understanding of what this means to Catholics. And to think Harper is meeting with the Pope while in Italy. What a gaffe he has made, LOL.
