The New Conservative Mascot?

I really have no idea whether or not the Liberals were seriously contemplating forcing the Conservatives hand next month, but seriously, have you ever seen a party running so scared?

Yeah, yeah, I know that the Liberals moved opposition days as well and that the most repeated line used by the Conservatives is 'the Liberals did it too' , but this government has been demonstrating it's fear and paranoia since taking office. In fact, they have spent more time manipulating the system than they have governing. Prorogation anyone?

According to the article, the opposition day has been moved to the 17th of June. Isn't that when the Conservatives are due to table their report? How pathetic?

I hope the new Ignatieff video gets lots of exposure, because the contrast it creates between the two parties is staggering.

So, we'll have an election in July. So what?

Choices, choices Steve, lol. Chicken, neutered...I'm sure there are more.

Any way you cut it, it's beyond obvious with these guys.

Anon, I have no problem with it, though there are pros and cons as to the timing.

Not the summer specifically, but the timing in general.

I know, it's tempting to be hawkish right now.

So all that huffing and puffing about forcing elections last year and most of this year by Dion and the Liberals wasn't being chicken? Talk about the kettle calling the pot black.

Anon

So you're admitting this is chicken? Quite an admission, and actually comparing yourself to Dion, to delicious to be true!

"The Liberals did it first!"

"We're just copying Dion!"

Seriously?

So the Libs opp day was before the Economic report.

You do know that the June 17 report was not an automatic cofidence vote, right?

You do know the only 2 occasions for a confidence vote are
dictated by the govt
1. opposition days
2. government bills deemed so
Now it can be.

So how is giving the opps a chance to bring down the govt on the report, a chicken move?

Because the Libs would have voted nonconfidence BEFORE the report?

Hey look knb didn't write the title, Conservative television did:

"Tories look to scheduling tactics to avoid election"

The Paul Martin comparison is priceless.

Maybe the media folks aren't smart enough to realize the opposition day was pushed back to 'allow' a confidence vote on the economic report.
Or they know most Canadians don't get that, so they can fool them into thinking PMSH is chicken.
You pick.

Afterall, it is all about Steve.

He's hootin and hollerin again - and we know empty wagons rattle the most.
