The Incompetence is Staggering

We have a Science Minister that apparently has his own special version of evolution.

An Immigration Minister that is keeping people out unless they fit his special criteria and refusing to allow a British MP in on, (as far as I can tell) grounds that limit freedom of speech.

A Minister of Heritage that doesn't know his file.

An Environment Minister willing to sacrifice the environment to get pet projects underway.
Our Foreign Affairs Minister just got back from Afghanistan where he apparently investigated whether or not torture was still occurring in the prisons. He did this by asking a prisoner while the warden stood beside him.
A Finance Minister who...well he's just always on the list isn't he?

There's more I'm sure, but what I've noted here happened this week alone! So, why don't we go straight to the leader of the pack. The most incompetent, because after all, he named them all Ministers didn't he?
Simply staggering.

Beautiful post - I agree 110% with you - these clowns are an embarrassment and it's an outrage that they are in power...

looks like Harper has to tighten the muzzles again. Seems the Conservatives are starting to talk like, well Conservatives. Kind of hard to hold up the true self inside for 3 years straight. They have probably forgot that the only reason they won any election was by hiding the true blue. Or they actually think it will get them more votes.

It's a sign that he's losing control. I think people like Kenney have to answer to people in their riding, while Harper is trying to grow in Ontario and BC.

It's starting to fall apart... A party which has lost it's principles... Ministers who are incompetent, and really only there so that they CAN destroy everything their departments stood for...

But you've nailed it, as well, when you state that "the supreme" incompetent is Harper himself.

I don't know how many countries which will elect someone like him as leader. This was a complete press/media machination (his image). This is a guy who never worked a job that wasn't handed to him as the "golden boy of the Uber-right-wing". He never worked as an "economist", and is really a life-long political HACK.

Harper's lack of world knowledge is astounding. How sad is it that someone his age hasn't traveled beyond his home land (prior to becoming PM)? Being knowledgeable about the world around you is a key to being a world leader. It opens doors. It builds bridges of understanding, which pay off when you need a trade deal. Not only does Harper have little knowledge of the world around him, but neither do the rest of his "closed door" club - better known as Canadian Conservative Cabinet Ministers. His most "traveled" MPs languish in the back benches (Rahim Jaffer, Nina Grewal, Deepak Obrhoi (sp?), etc.).

Conservative MPs would rather burn bridges than build them:

Climate Change: Con Government Ministers basically waved Canada's big middle finger at the rest of the world.

China: Another big middle finger. This one hurts even more since Canada is going to have to increase trade with China to make up for the demise of the US market. Kenney was the "point man" in the China attacks...

Immigration: Say one thing, but do the "anti-immigrant" thing... Kenney again.

"Courting" the "suburban ethnics": Call them names (Kenney: "hot-headed Sikhs"), joke about their food (Kenney: "Minister of Curry in A Hurry"), refuse to offer apologies for past grievous wrongs perpetrated by the Canadian Government (Kenney: "That's their apology" - when Harper refused to apologize on the floor of the Commons in the Komagata Maru incident)...

The list goes on (and on, and on... and on...)...

Worthy of a Monty Python skit, but it wasn't an act of incompetence. It was deliberate; he did it in order to get the answer he wanted to hear. It was just an act of moral cowardice.

Don't forget Gerry Ritz and Helena Guergis. Oh, and Stockwell Day - case by case crap about Canadians in prison in other countries.

What other country re-elects incompetence - Bush elected the second time. Look where that got the Americans.

Well done KNB.

I don't think Ted Menzies easy going smile, in the face of economic meltdown, denotes a high degree of competence, or instills confidence either.
