Clever

The YouTube vid at the end of this post is one that I think is exceptionally clever.

It's aimed squarely at the Conservative bill C-10 and does an excellent job of poking at the McVety types in the party. While it's very funny, the level of production and the very fact that it's been made tells you how seriously the Arts are to Quebecers.

This is something that Dion knows and believes in.

Now. I'll give everyone fair warning. There is some strong language and some of the production is in French. So if swearing disturbs you or you don't care to listen to French (though you can still get the intent), please don't listen.

The great thing about that ad is that you don't really require any French language skills whatsoever in order to understand its message.

Deux thumbs up!

I had to re-post this Omar because blogger had the wrong date, so I moved your comment over.

Besides this comedic send-up ad, what do you think of the two Liberal ads that surfaced today? 'The Real Harper' I like very, 'This is Liberal leadership' not so much. I hope to see more of the former and a measured offering of the latter. I hate to think that extreme negativity is the way to go throughout the coming weeks, but..

That's a great video. Thanks for posting it.

Superb! Thanks.

I thought they were good. The negative one I don't like the thought of, but I think it's necessary. If I had a tech criticism of it, I thought it could have been tighter and I'm not crazy about the voice of the guy doing the voice-over.

I like the positive one and think that a different, (read honest) image of Dion must be pushed.

I don't mean playing hockey etc. I mean ads that speak to his accomplishments over the years and his vision for this country.

Harper's mocking of him seems to have stuck in the minds of the unthinking and I do believe that needs to be strongly countered. These of course are the same people that buy the sweater vest image of Harper.

I don't know if you saw him today, but he was out twice and was really strong at both announcements.

He's not just fighting Harper, he's fighting the image Harper created and he's fighting the media who seem to enjoy playing into that.

I noticed too today that Jack's back out attacking him and lying as blatantly as Harper is.

It's something to behold.

That was awesome.

I'm glad everyone likes it so far.

It's true irony obviously lies in how we are impacted by the Arts.

You've watched it, laughed and it may have even provided you with an image that will affect your thinking on this issue going forward.

It doesn't matter what party you identify with. That's the beauty and importance of art and culture in our world. It affects us.

Right, I found it this afternoon after listening to a Duceppe presser. He was asked what he thought of the vid and I had no idea what they were talking about.

Thankfully, You Tube is easy to search.

All mockings aside, I think Canadians have made their minds up as to Dion's supposed leadership weaknesses and I just don't see five weeks as enough time to change that perception. The Conservatives party is inane and their leader is a ghoul. Time for an intense exposé of Dear Leader and his crew.

I think there is still some time in that people are going to start tuning in now.

That said, going after Harper's record, absolutely! (Gawd, he's on cpac now lying his face off.)

Dion did go after him today and he went aggresively. It was good to see, primarily because it was factual.

He's on cpac now if you are reading Omar.

I just want this election to be done and over with quite frankly. The entire exercise is just so dumbed-down it is barely tolerable most days. We were in Florida all last week and we might as well been on the moon as far as Canada (let alone this election) was concerned and I didn't miss it whatsoever. As a matter of fact it was a nice break away from it. The Dimwits Vote 2008. Lets get on with it.

Lovely. Sharon just linked to this in the comments over at my place. Best laugh I've had all day.

An excellent vid! All about misleading, & control, as I see it.

The Libs need to come out with hard-hitting ads now on Harper. He is still doing, non-stop, the leader thing &, as we know, it's working after laying the groundwork for 2 yrs. with the terrible anti-Dion "leader" ads.

The focus needs to be more on the secrecy of Harper's agenda of changing programs, cutbacks (CFIA), & the scandals with the Cons. They have to be truthful, as you said, which doesn't have to come across as negative. It's necessary to hammer away with these to get the message across as the MSM is not doing it. And they won't unless the hitting back begins to make an impression.

I know I'm saying nothing that we don't already know but as this election time is so short something drastic must be done.

One more thing - I'm really, really upset over the Ritz fiasco.

It's not just what he said but that the focus is on the wrong issue. The focus should be on the agenda that Ritz & Harper implemented secretly - changing the inspection rules with their cutbacks. Denying, more than once, that anything had been changed, lying, & then finally admitting the truth. That alone should be enough for people to be up in arms about it. And that's where the Liberal ads should be smacking them - hard - with vids. People have died, with possibly more to come, & many have been very sick. The worst case of listeria breakout in the world.

And if the Cons regain power it's only going to get worse on the food inspection front as well as many other areas & we are going to be ripe for a pandemic.

RT -- Yep, tagged along as travelling sidekick while my siggy attended a huge three-day conference on addictions in Tampa. Sun, fun, lots of Ybor City and a Ray's game. The morning John McCain was in town his little soiree was right across the street from our hotel. I thought about seeing if I could register and attend, but chose to mingle with the few protesters who had gathered to picket the event. While we were there we stopped telling folks we were Canadian and opted instead for the Nova Scotian label as our little province seems to hold great amounts of mythical significance that borders on the legendary. We were made to feel almost divine every time we made an appearance! Heaps of good cheer all round!
