Discuss the |New Poll

The article is here. Interesting no?

Like other polls, I'm taking this as a snapshot in time, however it's tough to deny that there is a trend developing here.

Interesting job approval numbers. Not too many undecideds among those have made up their mind about Harper and Ignatieff seems to be firming up his numbers.

Ontario you ask?

In the Ontario breakdown, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.3 per cent, 19 times out of 20, the Conservatives enjoy 32.4 per cent, compared to 42.0 per cent for the Liberals. The two parties were statistically tied the last time EKOS conducted party preference polling.

Thoughts?

Well, I guess the Con attack machine will be in action VERY soon.

Yup. A beer says attack ads within a week.

I'm surprised they haven't already begun. Could it be that the Conservative fundraising machine has hit a snag?

Yes indeed. I think holding off on those attack ads will be too tempting...and then watch their numbers plummet even further.

I've heard they're planned for the summer - just like they did for Dion.

Hey, perhaps for every attack ad, Lib supporters should donate a dollar each to the Liberal party or something like that. Make the Con attack ads profitable.

Well, I don't want to lose a beer Erik, lol, but I expect in your neck of the woods, you'll get hand delivered ads!

You know Sandi, that or a variation on that theme is not a bad idea!

KNB you know me in the past I've always taken political polls when there isn't an election in sight with a grain of salt. But I'm not surprised. Mr Ignatieff has pushed a lot of the right buttons, that I like so far. You know what they say? "Never judge a book by its cover!" So I need to know more from him. We are only going to see this happen during an election. At least from the latest rumor that I have read it probably will take place some time in the fall. Has you know KNB I'm from Montreal so "GO HABS GO!" Sorry KNB I had to get that in LOL. If anyone is interested in the game tonight,it's playing on CBC right now! "GO HABS GO!"

This is why I think Harper has set his sights on the U.S. With hiring McCurry & Fleisher & wanting to go do more interviews Steside. He is setting himself up for a job somewhere - there, not here. And all on the Canadian taxpayer dime. I'm infuriated by this news today.

The poll looks good!

That's "Stateside" not "Steside"...lol.

I don't know when an election will happen right. Numbers like this make people like me want to jump now, but I suspect that they will use the summer to get Ignatieff more exposed.

I'm not a sports fan, but I've always kept a soft spot for the Habs.

Penlan, I thought about that move for Harper too. It's a bizarre move. Teneycke spoke about it on Power Play and for me, he made it sound even worse than it did in print.

Tonight on At Issue Andrew Coyne hypothesized that the reason people are dissatisfied with the CPC is because if their style of government.

If that is true, I am not sure an attack ad right now will work for them. I know the common belief is they always work, and I know some of us thought they would backfire when they used them on Dion, but I am not sure an attack ad on Ignatieff would have the same effect. For one thing Ignatieff has the support of his caucus (since his followers are hardly going to go all "unidentified senior liberal" on him).

Agreed Gayle. Additionally, I think the climate amongst voters has changed.

EKOS, what a joke, you sheeple are pathetic.

I'm waiting for it. I'm endorsing the Bloc during the next election while they are no threat to separate. Duceppe has had the most consistent environmental platform among parties actually trying to win Seats.
During WWII Quebec was adverse to fighting Hitler while Western Canadians were all too willing to sacrifice. Strange how in the face of future AGW, oil has turned things around.
Habs are still dead without Markov.

Canadians assume their media provides a public education surrogate to adults similiar to University and school education. Nope. Excepting CBC and Torstar...the media makes rich people richer regardless of whether the allocation is already efficient or not.
Two media CEOs proved themselves more powerful than 141 years of institutional tradition and safeguards in "educating" the public about AGW. Our flagship MSM news broadcaster Lloyd Robertson still reports potential lost ski-slopes as the main future consequence of AGW. Oh to be rich and evil.
