How to Skirt the Rules

Imagine my surprise in reading that Harper hasn't exactly played it straight when handing out contracts.

I know! Aren't you shocked?

Apparently, when hiring the uber-Republican, Ari Fleischer, the Harper crew didn't find it necessary to draw up a contract. They had an oral agreement, with details to be worked out later.

Kory Teneycke, in his usual fashion, sloughs it off and says that they aren't doing anything unusual. Well, it may not be outside of the rules, but they sure as hell is doing a lovely job of skirting them. But that's what they do isn't it? Under their phony guise of accountability, they twist and push every rule to it's absolute limit. Sometimes they get caught, In and Out, and it only makes me wonder how many times they haven't.

Martha Hall Findlay says it well when she comments that 'they seem to make it up as they go along'.

What does appear to be against the rules though, is splitting a contract to get under the $25,000.00 rule. That is what appears to have happened here. No wonder they have trouble maintaining staff.

Most of us aren't willing to play fast and loose with the rules.

Incompetent, unethical and hopefully soon to be unemployed.

I loved the Conservative line from the CTV report regarding MacDonnell's mishap with Raitt's paperwork -- "if she, in fact, left it behind" --

LOL. The paranoia of these individuals knows no bounds.
