Ignatieff Driving to Montreal

I heard a short interview on CJAD today with Ignatieff. He was on his way to his dinner/speeech so he spoke from his car, which is never a tight interview imo.

He was asked about Duceppe's new strategy. That is, to focus solely on Ignatieff and consider the Conservatives dead in Quebec. On that second point, Duceppe and I actually agree at the moment. What's interesting though is the huge campaign that Duceppe is mounting. Didn't he decry those nasty Conservatives spending money on ads outside of elections?

Anyway, it's clear that he sees Ignatieff as a threat. Take a gander at their website. Ignatieff didn't exactly shrug it off, but tried to provide clarity to the nonsense that Duceppe is spewing. Here's more of what we can expect.

He was also asked how he reacts, just as a person, (not a politician), to the ads put out by the Conservatives. Overall he thinks they are ridiculous. Of course, when you look at their website, it's obvious that they are threatened too.

All in all, if your adversaries are consumed with you, you must be making them feel mighty uneasy.

Update - I guess SteveV had a similar thought.

Sure feels like an election's coming.

Well, if Layton and Duceppe are that "scared" I doubt there will be an election.

Besides, Layton is in the US helping out Americans and bragging boasting and trying to make like he has a in with Obama. Uh huh, Obama's travelling as we know and if Obama was so taken up with Layton he'd have Layton there when he is back in D.C.

Layton is looking like a fool just like he did on Lou Dobbs. I have to wonder, if any Republicans find out Layton is a socialist (the US are panicky at the idea of socialism) if this couldn't hurt Obama.

Wouldn't you think that when there are so many attack ads on someone, people would think that this someone really must have something going for him?

Forgot to mention - check out Calgary Grit and Layton's letter.

So, since the Conservatives have imploded in Quebec, you'd like to BQ to focus on them?

How smart would that be politically?

Now Iggy's puffery is quite amusing and I wonder if he will give the same speech to the rest of Canada... or is this just a way to cozy up to separatist?

Bientôt, nous remettrons le Canada sur les rails. Et ce jour-là, le Québec sera dans la locomotive.
Iggy

If you were at the dinner, you'd also have noticed that Iggy attacked the BQ and reserved few words for the Conservatives...

Now, if you look at the BQ web site, you'll also see that there are MORE headlines decrying the Connies.... Strange....

cwtf, the articles at the site about the Cons aren't the ones that hit you as you arrive.

Of course Ignatieff is going to go after soft Bloc support and hit back. Geesh, wasn't Dion criticised for NOT reacting to ads?

I wasn't at the dinner. Were you?

Dion, for all the bashing he received in the press was quite the eloquent and erudite speaker - in French.

He brought out a visceral reactions from some - Chantal Hébert included - because of his love for Canada. I always found it odd that the man who saved Canada would be attacked by the Connies for being French...

Oh good. I mean this seriously, not snark, could you put your dislike of him aside and give me a bit of a run down?

cwtf, I agree on your second point. I've never understood it either.

I found him pandering to Quebec nationalists - just like Harper did/does.
Except, there was little of substance...

People around me were quite impressed...

cwtf, thanks, but don't quit your day job for in-depth reporting, ;).

Care to point yourself out?

Care to point yourself out?

I do care somewhat about my privacy. And I am involved in politics, so I am keenly aware that I could be prejudiced against.

There is a NougatJesus that is following you on Twitter.... and I am friendly with a few on Facebook...

BTW, @ image: The photo you were looking for doesn't exist anymore

I was just kidding cwtf, given that it was all 'back of the head' shots...but humour is sometimes lost in this medium.

I understand and respect privacy issues and appreciate the same courtesy.

I wonder what happened to the pic? Odd. It was a nice shot.
